Grape Harvest Season Is Here!

As the calendar turns to fall, the days get shorter, the nights get cooler, and its time to harvest grapes in Indiana. In the next month, we at Butler Winery will be harvesting our estate grown grapes to produce more award winning wines. This is the most exciting time of the year, because we get to see the fruit of our hard labor. Through the next couple of weeks, we will measure the acidity of the grapes as well as the sugar content, to ensure that we pick the grapes at their peak ripeness.

Harvesting Marquette grapes at Foggy Ridge Vineyard

At the beginning of August, we harvested Marquette grapes from Foggy Ridge Vineyard; a local vineyard in Monroe County owned and operated by our good friend Rodney Anderson. We have already processed these grapes and are currently fermenting the juice for our first wine of the season.
